My Story

For years, GSTT looked after my grandad and we experienced their first-class knowledge, empathy, compassion and support in every visit and admission.

I'm abseiling in his golden memory, to say a special thanks to the incredible teams at St Thomas'. Please consider supporting me in my fundraising efforts for such a powerful cause!

It’s been a minute since I did some fundraising so here we go!

This time, it’s an abseil (yes, off the side of the St Tommy’s building!) for Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and I’d be so grateful for your support as this cause means the absolute world to me...

In the final months of Grandad’s life, the teams at GSTT cared for him with such kindness, dignity, and strength.

In October 2024, we were hit by a storm: the sudden, devastating loss of my uncle and within a week, news of Grandad’s urgent, life-altering leg amputation. The doctors and nurses didn’t just treat my grandad's body, they cared for his mind and spirit.

Somewhere in the middle of this storm, they also became a support system for myself and our family. They answered every question, were present in every difficult moment, and offered every small act of kindness that somehow kept us going. 

Their presence was steady, gentle, and powerful. The kind that leaves an imprint long after and will always have a place in our hearts.

So now, I’m doing something slightly terrifying(!) to honour my grandad with a nod to those who did more than they realise in keeping me afloat.
